Our Year 7 Open Morning is set to be the perfect opportunity to experience life at Trent College and to get a real feel for our school. You'll also have a chance to enjoy a great day out relaxing in our beautiful grounds or getting involved in a range of fun summer activities suitable for all the family as part of our free Family Fun Day.
Should you wish to make a booking, please contact our Admissions team at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Shortly after the Open Day, on Monday 19 June, we will hold our special Summer Taster Day for pupils currently in Year 5. The outline for the day is as follows:
09:15 Families arrive for a welcome presentation in the Trent College Chapel
09:30 Enjoy a family tour around Trent College and visit some of the classrooms and facilities you may not have seen previously
10:15 Parents depart and children have a quick break for a snack
10:30 Children move to the ICT room to take our school entrance assessment
12:45 Lunch in the Obolensky Dining Room with some of our current Year 5 pupils from The Elms
13:00 Head off with the Year 5 pupils to enjoy the remaining lunch break exploring our school grounds
13:20 Children join Year 5 pupils for afternoon lessons - music, drama & library
15:30 Pparents arrive at The Elms Upper School Library for refreshments to collect children and meet staff and pupils
Our entrance assessment is a multiple choice “Cognitive Abilities Test”, which is all done online. It assesses how well a student can think about tasks and solve problems using a range of different questions. The assessment does not require any prior knowledge and it is standardised according to age. Crucially, it forms one part of a holistic approach, whereby we get to know each child individually and consider whether they will thrive at our school.
Following the Summer Taster Day we will aim to advise you immediately whether we are able to set a place in Year 7 aside for your son/daughter for September 2018. This means that he/she will not be required to sit the entrance assessment in January 2018, allowing you to relax during the year ahead, safe in the knowledge that his/her place in secured. Should you want to consider the option of your son/daughter transitioning into The Elms in Year 6, the place is directly transferable.
To book a place on the Taster Day, or to simply discuss any aspect of Trent College in more detail, please do not hesitate to contact us.
